Sh.Harish Sood |
General Secretary of the Sabha from 1983
to 1989. Dynamic and visionary, he nurtured the idea that the Sabha
should have its own Bhawan. He gave new dimensions to its activities
and as a result of his untiring efforts
the
Sabha has Bhawans at Chandigarh and Panchkula. He was also the
Secretary of Sarvdeshik Sood Sabha. He will be always remembered for
his services to the Biradari. His untimely death on20.7.1989 left a
deep void. |

Sh.Dharam Inder Sood |
He served Sood Sabha with great devotion in
various capacities and
became its President in 1986. Earlier he remained General Secretary
from 1977 to 1982. He was amiable, social and earned admiration of all
with his qualities of head and heart. Born on 25.12.1928 at
Dar-es-Salaam ( East Africa ) he shifted to India in 1971 and settled
at Chandigarh. He was the Vice President of Sarvdeshik Sood Sabha,
Chairman, Sood Sabha and Vice Chairman, Sood Sewa Bhawan Trust. On 9
th
Nov., 1988 ( Diwali –Day ), he left this mortal world. |
| 1991 |
Sh. Brahm Dutt Sood |
The leading light of Sood Biradari who
was associated with Sarvdeshik Sood Sabha for over four decades and
became its President in 1985. He was a staunch Arya Samaji and worked
hard for eradication of social evils. He was also the Secretary of
Dayanand Dalit Uddhar Sabha, Ambala and was also associated with
various social organizations. He also took keen interest in the
activities of Sood Sabha, Chandigarh. |

Sh. Mela Ram Sood |
An eminent and distinguished
personality of Shimla and
Himachal
Pradesh. Throughout his life, he remained associated with a number of
social and welfare organizations to serve the Society and earned great
admiration. Sh. Mela Ram Ji worked in close association with R.B. Mohan
Lal in completing various social projects like Garli Hospital, Sarai,
Waterworks Scheme and also constructed Sood Anglo Sanskrit High School
at Garli (HP) in the memory of his father Lala Bholu Mal. Took keen
interest in independence movement and remained in touch with great
leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr.Rajender Prasad and
others during their visit to Shimla who used to stayed
with L. Mela Ram ji |

Dr. Des Raj Bowry |
Founder Member and Honorary Chairman of Sood
Association, London ( U.K. ). Sh.
Bowry played great role in establishing and organizing Sood Association
in UK. He also donated liberally to various social organizations and
for a number of years organized Eye Camp in his native village in
Punjab
.
He took keen interest in the
activities of Sood Sabha, Chandigarh and was made Chief Patron. |

Dr. Mukand Lal Sood |
Philanthropist and
distinguished
Physician, Dr. Mukand Lal Sood, born at Vill: Ambota (HP) was a great
humanist. He was an eminent member of the biradari. He retired from
Ripon Hospital Shimla in 1963 and after that dedicated his life to
serve the Society. He regularly organized medical camps at his village
Ambota (HP) where medicines were given free. He donated liberally to
various Institutions including Sood Sabha, Chandigarh for the
construction of a multipurpose Hall at Sood Bhawan, Panchkula. |

Shri Bishamber Lal Sood |
Well known philanthropist Shri Bishamber Lal
Sood of Delhi was founder member of Charitable
Trust which was
established in the memory of his only daughter Dr.
Madhu Sood who died at the young age of 27. Through this Trust, Sh.
Bishamber Lal Sood started several welfare activities to help the poor
and widows.

Dr. Kirpa Ram Sood |
A real Gem of Sood Biradari, Dr. Kirpa
Ram Sood will always be remembered not only in Shimla but elsewhere
also for his social activities. He was associated with several social
organizations viz. Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Hindi Pracharni Sabha, IMA
and was President
of
Managing Committee of SD High School, Amb. He donated liberally to
various organizations who were doing charitable activities for the
Society and also established a Trust named "Dr. Kirpa Ram Gayatri Devi
Charitable Trust". He gave full support to Sood
Sabha,
Chandigarh for construction of Sood Bhawan, Chandigarh. |

Sh. Madan Mohan Sood |
The main architect of Sood Sabha,
Chandigarh, Sh. Madan Mohan Sood took initiative to hold first meeting
of some prominent members of biradari at his residence in Chandigarh in
Nov. 1958 where the historic decision to form Sood Sabha was taken. He
was made the first General Secretary of the Sabha which
post he held till 1976. A
visionary, prolific writer and a good orator, he undertook the
strenuous job of researching
the origin of Soods and presented the most valuable book to the
biradari – ORIGIN AND HISTORY OF SOODS which was published by Sood
Sabha, Chandigarh. The book is widely referred to while debating the
origins of the Community.

Sh. Bhag Mal Sood |
He will always be remembered for his devotion
and dedicated services rendered to Sood Sabha, Chandigarh since its
inception. Sh.Bhag Mal Sood served the Sabha in various capacities and
remained Vice President for several years. In 1984 he became
President.
When the Sabha decided to construct Sood Bhawan at Chandigarh, he not
only actively supported the idea but also helped in collecting funds
for this Project. He was a noble, helpful and a source of great
inspiration for the younger members of the Sabha. He was deeply
religious and believed in action and motivated his entire family to
come forward and serve the Society. |
| 2000 |
Sh. Des Raj Kashyap |
One of the founder members of
Sood Sabha, Chandigarh, Shri Des Raj Kashyap remained associated with
the Sabaha till he breathed his last on
6..1.2005. He advocated publication
of Sood Sandesh
for regular communication with the biradari. He was also associated
with Sarvdeshik Sood Sabha as General Secretary. He was the Chief
Patron of the Sabha and rendered valuable services as advisor to
strengthen the organization. |
| 2001 |
Sh. Jagdish Ram Doegar |
Sh. Doegar was honoured for his devotion
and life long service to the Biradari. He was one of the founder member
of Sood Sabha Chandigarh. He became its President and remained so from
1977 to 1983 and then made the Patron. He was
also the General Secretary of
Sarvdeshik Sood
Sabha when All India Sood Conference was held at Chandigarh which was a
grand success. He regularly gave financial assistance to the poor
widows and students. He was the Secretary of
Petrol Dealers
Association Chandigarh and remained associated with it for over 20
years. An epitome of love, kindness and
generosity, he served the biradari through out his life. |

Sh. Manohar Lal Mohindra |
Born atVill: Jodhpur near Barnala (Pb.) Sh.
Manohar Lal Mohindra settled in Assam where he owned several
Tea gardens. He served the biradari by making
liberal and regular donations
to Sood Sabha Chandigarh towards several projects viz. Stipend for the
poor students, financial help to the widows and construction of Sood
Bhawan. During his life time, he never allowed Sood Sabha to publish
anything about the donations made by him as he
believed that he was a humble
servant of the Almighty and only followed HIS orders. A noble soul
indeed. |

Sh.Jishan Lal Kuthiala |
A prominent member of the biradari Shri
Jishan Lal Kuthiala continued to serve the society in
accordance with the rich traditions set
by his ancestors – a well known Kuthiala Family of Himachal Pradesh. He
was associated with several social organizations which were involved in
charitable activities. |

Lala Amar Chand Sood |
He is an eminent member of the Biradari
and one of the founder members of Sood Sabha, Shimla and now its
PATRON. He was a well known Advocate at High
Court, HP and for a number of
years was elected
President of Bar Association, HP. He has also been honoured by Himachal
Govt. for his services. He has been associated with several religious
and social organizations. |

Sh.Kulbhushan Bowry |
Born at Nairobi ( East Africa ), Shri Bowry
decided to come to
India rather than migrating to UK and started
his business in Bangalore. There he associated
himself with social organizations
and made regularly contributions for charitable
activities. When Sood Sabha, Chandigarh decided to
open
a Charitable Diagnostic Laboratory at Sood Bhawan he motivated the
Sabha to start this noble Project and made liberal donation for it. He
is a true Arya Samaji and maintains low profile. He believes in "what
you sow, so shall you reap". |

Sh. Hardyal Doegar |
A well known philanthropist, Sh. Hardyal
Doegar belongs to the prominent Doegar Family of Himachal Pradesh and
followed the glorious traditions of the family to serve the biradari.
Though settled in Delhi, he took keen interest in the activities of
Sood Sabha Chandigarh and donated regularly for helping
poor
students and widows. He remained associated with several social and
charitable organizations. He was a
guide to the younger generation and motivated them to
spare some thoughts for the Society by rendering
selfless service. |
| 2007 |
Dr. Bhushan Sood |
Dr. Bhushan Sood was a Dental Surgeon at
Panchkula before going to Canada. He takes keen
interest in biradari
activities and has set up a chapter of the Sood
community in North America titled " Sood Sabha of North America." He
took intiative to organize annual meetings of the
community residing in Canada and America. Dr.Bhushan
takes keen interest in the
history of Soods and its origin and plans to enlighten
the Sood Cumminity living abroad about the glorious past and rich
traditions of the community so that they feel proud of its ancestory.
He is associated with many
professional
and social organizations and is also President of CanIn Multicultural
Association, based at Mississauga, Canada |
